The Birkenhead Town Centre Association have kindly provided retailers with some historical information about the town and buildings.
The first buildings in town were the Frederick Morris blocks at 1-15 Birkenhead Ave and developed around the historic roundabout. At 245 Hinemoa St (Bambina's new retail store), we are excited to learn our building is a heritage building and is estimated to have been built around 1920. It is thought to have contained a confectioner and billiard saloon. Historic photos dating from 1928 show that it then housed a hairdressers. |
