Dear Retailer, mokopuna merino™ garments are safe As manufacturers of baby clothing, mokopuna merino™ safety is second to none and of the utmost importance to us.Recent stories in New Zealand’s press highlight the need for continuous quality assurance for China manufactured goods. There have been reports over the last couple of days regarding toxins in children’s clothing made in China; high levels of formaldehyde, carcinogenic dyes and unacceptable pH levels in some fabrics made in China. mokopuna merino™ uses only 100% pure New Zealand merino fabric, made into garments, in China. NO formaldehyde is used during production. Levels outside 4 to 7.5 on the pH scale “can damage skin.” The pH levels of mokopuna merino™ are well within acceptable pH levels:
All dyestuffs used in the manufacture of mokopuna merino™ are health safe and procedures for the handling of dyestuffs are all covered under ISO 9002. Dyestuffs used have very high colour fastness to washing and light - this means they don't bleed. The mokopuna merino™ fabric has also undergone fire safety testing. We greatly exceed the fire safety requirements for BS 5722 – in fact in one test, our fabric was three times safer than it was required to be. Our garments are labelled “Low Fire Danger and Low Flammability to BS 5722”.We are sure that the above will answer any consumer enquiries that you may have.
